LO2 Ideas Treament

IDEA TREATMENT:

Start: A character wakes up in bed with a cold sweat after panicking in his sleep, the character then comes back to reality and turns to the camera to break the 4th wall as he explains to the audience how he constantly changes bodies when he dies and also keeps his memories and consciousness whilst losing bits of his sanity and that he doesn’t’t have any memories or thoughts from the person who he has taken over. He continues his explanation whilst walking downstairs in which he falls down and dies.

Middle: Character wakes up in another body and makes a jape about the abrupt ending to his explanation and carries on explaining before receiving a text from one of the original body owners body friend and asks him to come out. Not trying to be suspicious he goes along with it. After a few scares during the day and close scrapes, his friends play off the dangers and describe him as acting queer. His friends then do something to put the characters life in danger and things go down hill.

End: Character wakes up in a new body and looks in the camera, setting off the cycle of unfortunate events again.

Binary Opposites: Life Vs. Death, the character tries to come to grips with what is happening to him and explains how he tries to cheat death by staying in bed all day or staying in a safe place for the day and explains how that doesn’t’t work and how there is some supernatural force stopping him from surviving the day.

Who is working on the project and who is doing what jobs?:
In my group there is only one other, Lewis White, there was another but he had dropped out of college so we had to compensate for that fact and as a result we have to take on more work. Lewis is the technical side of the partnership, so he will be talking over the majority of the editing and also the setting up of the equipment., whilst I create the storyboards, shooting scripts and organising crew and we both act ion the short film and we have both co written the script. I will be directing the short film whilst starring in it as well.

Has any media work already been produced on this subject?

I haven’t seen any pieces of work or projects that are the same or like this project before, however the theme has some similarities with other thrillers and sci-fi movies that are out there, due to the idea of reincarnation and the thought of supernatural forces at work on a person’s daily routine and or life. I think that it will be interesting to see if our idea, which puts our own spin on the genre and theme, will prove to be as thoughtful and insightful as we want to engage with the audience and make them think about our idea and what is happening to the character that they are following.

In terms of style, we have decided to do something we have never done before so we can widen our knowledge an skills when shooting future films. We are going to use master shots for almost all the scenes in the short films and mix them with other shots we have shot. After watching ‘Birdman’ we have received inspiration on how we want to shoot our film. The idea of shooting on long continuous shot for most of the scene sounded very desirable to us and we will plan on going forward with that idea and creating our film with these styles incorporated.

Goals?
As I have mentioned our goal and or aims for this project is to engage with the audience and make them think about the events that are occurring within the scenes and off. Me and my partner have decide to have an ambiguous ending as this will help our goal much more than it would if we just explained it to the audience and close the story within the time on the screen. Obviously we aim to create movie worthy of a great grade and a film that pleases all around because of course we wouldn’t want to have the film be a flop when we and the teacher have invested a lot of time and effort into the project.
